How To Use Contact Lenses
Want to make inserting and removing your contacts second nature? Follow these helpful step-by-step instructions.
How to Insert Contact Lens
- STEP 1: Wash and dry your hands completely using soap and a clean towel.
- STEP 2: Rinse lenses using solution to remove dirt or debris. (You can skip this step with brand-new contacts that haven’t been worn.) Tip: You don't want to mix up your lenses so remember to always insert and remove the lens for your RIGHT eye first.
- STEP 3: Put the lens on the tip of your index finger. Make sure the lens is not inside out by checking the marker if appropriate.
- STEP 4: Using your free hand, hold your upper eyelid in place so that you don’t blink.
- STEP 5: Using the free fingers of the inserting hand, pull down on your lower eyelid.
- STEP 6: Looking up, place the lens on the lower part of your eye.
- STEP 7: Slowly remove your hand from your eyelid allowing your eye to close for a moment.
- STEP 8: Blink a few times naturally, so that the lens centers.
- STEP 9: If the lens feels uncomfortable or irritates your eye, take it out and check for damage or debris. If the lens is damaged, then throw it away. Otherwise, use solution to rinse it and reinsert.
